Diaper Swappers

I am currently making some longies and soakers from old sweaters for my son. I have some cashmere that got accidentally thrown into the wash somehow and ruined, but I was thinking it would make soft shorts for training pants. Can you lanolize it and use it like wool or is it too thin?

It can be thin, but in concept it works like wool.

It does work, ime, but only for one wetting. After that it needs to air out completely before being used again, whereas wool can be worn through 2 or 3changes-again, just my personal experience.

That's what I was wondering. I usually do switch to a different wool piece with each change and let the other air completely, but it's nice not to have to.

I'm kind of thinking it might be better to use the cashmere just as the waistband part on my recycled woolies because it's thinner and easier to sew in that top seam folded over. I've been breaking needles trying to sew through three layers of felted wool to make waistbands of matched wool. I guess the cashmere is not going wear the same as the wool though.
