Yes, it does appear that they did a lot wrong here. Not doubt, but did you do the math? At an estimated value of $44, that is more than the value of 15 diapers at the $2.50 price that has been mentioned. I don't get it, seriously, why would they make the value more, did I miss something. I am in an alva co-op and there is no getting around duties, I have seen them on every one they have run. Can you take a picture of were it shows total due, I don't know if it would show the persons name or not from that vantage point? The lady that runs our co-op always snaps a picture of it to prove we owe it.

I kind of had to laugh too but I understand.

I however have read on various threads about Alvas here on DS and elsewhere from people that have gotten them that the company DOES underestimate the value of the diaper and that they do put paper diaper on the form to get around customs.

I don't know anything about Kawaii though.

I wondered the same thing about the overstated quantity vs. the understated value per item coming out to a higher total value, Samantha! Unfortunately I don't have a paper copy of this to snap a picture myself. I did ask my sources to explain why they think this would have been the strategy involved. I've never personally placed an order or participated in a co-op, though.

Weird. All of it is very weird. You've got me snooping now. I found this ( http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/...ctt/icp066.pdf )and what I am getting from that is by valuing them over $1 they are still subject to customs, I think. I didn't read too far past that, so someone might find something I didn't. I don't get the point really if that is the case?

Actually, I do suspect that about a few of their owner/CEO personalities, wild as it is!

It is definitely possible! Is she real? Maybe, but it doesn't mean she is a wahm. Or a woman. How could you own a factory and be a wahm? Seems highly unlikely to me.

I *think* the Sunpei narrative is that she and her husband already owned a manufacturing facility, and she wanted to stay home with their baby. She needed to save money, discovered the North American CD industry online, and decided to produce their own in their factory to reduce costs, then chose to sell them directly to offer the benefit of the low cost to consumers in a global market.

Neat little company creation story, maybe too neat, but many CEOs have neat little packaged stories like this; it's all part of sympathetic marketing. I don't know anything about Sunpei, but there is another CEO whose existence I definitely doubt.
