Diaper Swappers

I caught the family cold last night. I cannot afford to be down as I have 3 littles with it, including a very fussy baby, and DH. I want to take something that will help shorten the duration and severity. I thought of Zicam but don't you have to start it by a certain time?

Any remedies any one can think of that can help. I do not want to take meds that might dry me up. I can handle the runny nose and scratchy throat. I just would like to see if I can not get worse.

My only suggestion is to not spend all night sleeping on one side. The mucus can really get packed in there, and I think that contributed to my fall cold turning into a nasty sinus infection.

I will be sure to switch sides. I am sure Mr Finn will make sure of it with his new adversion to sleeping sick. He had me flipping and flopping all night last night. I just found out he has a red/raw throat. So we will be doing motrin/tylanol per pedi order every 6 hours alternating. I hope that will help the pain at night. I know that I am always worse at night. My throat is sore too.

I have gotten good results with Airborne or 10-15 ish drops of grapefruit seed extract in water if taken right when I start to feel sick.

Zinc stops the cold from reproducing. You could also do 1,000-3,000 mg of vit c as soon as you feel it coming on. I alternate vit c and garlic supplements to ward off colds, so far so good.

Airborne seems to work OK for me too but more often I have Vit C and Garlic in the house than I do Airborne so that's what I use. Airborne is (in a nut shell) Mag, Vit C, and Echinea along with some other vitamins high in antioxidants, with Zinc and Selenium (which act similar).

Be sure to have a humidifier running. Those always help us tremendously (but I do live in the desert)

I had good luck with saline spray in a steamy shower. I hope you feel better soon!
