Leotard question, underwear or no?

As a dancer and dance teacher I say no underwear (though I don't tell my students not to wear any). About 90% of my students do and it sticks out from under their leotards and they spend half of class looking in the mirror and trying to fix it since you can see it.

My dd is 5 and she does not wear undies under her leotard. I can only think of one kid in she gymnastics class that does and they are always showing. I just make sure her leotards are nice and wide in the rear and have good leg elastics.

I was a competitive gymnast and sometimes wore special gymnastics briefs sometimes wore none. My girls wear undies bc they have no butts and the bottoms of the Leos are baggy

No undies for either dance or gymnastics. They do make special briefs that go under gym leos, but normally only much older gymnasts wear them.

DD is in Gymnastics and does not wear underwear with her leo. She either wears a biketard with the shorts or a regular leo with shorts.

If the Leo is cheaply made I know some moms put underwear on. No need for undies in gym tho

Thanks for replies, it has been very helpful. I was under the impression that you didn't wear them because of the sticking out issue but I see there is a range like anything else.
For tonight she went with no undies, Leo and bike shorts.

My girls wear underwear under their leotard for gymnastics, but only because they think they should and they wear leggings over top anyways. If it was just a leotard I would probably try and convince them not to wear it!

I bought a shorts leotard for gymnastics and she wore them. For ballet she did not wear them.
