inexpensive Paleo party food?
I'm looking for realatively inexpensive paleo food (an oxymoron, I know- lol!) To serve at my ydd 2nd bday.
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
Hahahahaha. That doesn't exist. But seriously, what kind of food are you looking for? Finger food and a cake or something more substantial?

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
We do a full meal. Pre paleo I would have served pasta with italian sausage and pepper sand whiches, salad and cake (plus several appetizers) or pasta salad with hamburgers or italian beef sandwhiches and a side of some sort.
There is almost always a pasta (we are italian after all!) and a bread basket.....plus lots of grain and wheat filled appetizers. I will go with a gluten free cake from a local bakery...I know its not paleo but its yummy and at least gluten free for ydd. I realize its going to be $, but I would like to keep it as low as possible. I'm feeding 30 people. I was thinking about maybe roasting a turkey. I should be able to get a conventional one for under $2\lb.

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
fruit and veggie buffet with bacon/egg cups if you need more substance ;-)
and a paleo cake! yummmmm! eta: whoa. That's a lot of people. Um, yeah a turkey sounds good. You could do butternut squash (or some cheap potato) fries. IDK how to cook for that many people, paleo or not! sorry

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
Paleo can do potatoes right? If I'm wrong I'm sorry. But what about baked potatoes (or sweet potatoes or even roasted squash), Turkey, Salad, Vegi, and maybe some meatballs for an appetizer?

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
eggplant or zucchini lasagna? There is dairy involved, obviously http://www.recipebyphoto.com/zucchini-pasta-lasagna/
http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/09/s...h-lasagna.html ETA- I saw a tip about salting the zucchini or eggplant in a colander for a while after it is sliced to let some of the liquid out so it isn't as sloppy And a big Italian salad?

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
I decided to serve:
Apps...deviled eggs, fruit, cut veggies, cheese cubes (I know, not really paleo, lol) Dinner...spinach salad with tomatoes and cukes, cucumber salad, roast turkey, steamed broccolli, sweet taters with butter and cinnamon Dessert....coconut whipped cream with fruit, gluten free cake with conventional frosting, lemon and strawberry sorbet. I will serve pop (just not drink it...and send any leftovers home with people, lol!), diluted fruit juice for the kids, water, coffee and tea.

Re: inexpensive Paleo party food?
I was going to say bacon wrapped water chestnuts! Dip in a BBQ sauce or plain. For an appetizer.
