Re: Age and fertility
I think it seems to depend more on the individual than on age. If you are Michelle Duggar, you probably don't need to worry about your fertility!

Re: Age and fertility
But the question was about fertility after 30. I don't think anyone would question that fertility is lower after 40, but for a lot of people it is still going strong after 30.

Re: Age and fertility
So far I haven't noticed a difference, but I'm just turning 36 in a little over a week. I have gotten pregnant 7 times (only 3 stuck) before turning 35, and got pregnant with one that appears to be sticking at about 35 2/3 years old.
But I don't know that I count as I'm still on the "young" side of being AMA and managed to get pg twice while on the pill. ETA: I have conceived twice since hitting 30 and neither time were we fervently trying. We also conceived when I was 29 and 2/3.

I had 2 pregnancies in my 20's, then had to wait 6 years to ttc again due to breast cancer treatment. Had an easily conceived pregnancy at the age of 33 that I lost, then went on to get pregnant again and dd was born when I was 34. Currently 35 and 17 weeks pregnant with a "surprise!!" So even though I am now considered AMA and chemo was supposed to shorten my fertility, apparently it didn't

Re: Age and fertility
ahh, this is such a source of stress for me! I got pg easily at 29 and 32 (within a few cycles of trying) but hope to get pg again shortly after my 34th bday (which is this spring). I hope it isn't very difficult this time, but realistically I know it might be...

Re: Age and fertility
My experience:
I had three children by 30. No particular difficulty conceiving, no miscarriages or pregnancy complications. I remarried in my late 30's and at 38, gave birth again. His birth was prefaced by multiple miscarriages, and then followed by two more. He was lacking perineum and...it was clear my body was, um...drying up. |
