Diaper rash will not go away :(
Ds has had this diaper rash for almost 2wks. I have used a&d, butt paste, and dr. Smiths. It did look like it was going to clear up on the 2day of dr. Smiths but now its getting worse again. It looks painfull and ds cries when I clean him
Im changing him often and giving a little diaper free time. What else can I do or use?

Re: Diaper rash will not go away :(
Is it possibly a yeast rash?

Use lotramin and 1% hydrocortizone mixed with diaper rash cream.

Aquaphor was the solution we used.it worked beautifully! DS's rump was bleeding from a massive poop Athon! Then we went diaper less for two days! Nothing helped until we did the aquaphor

Re: Diaper rash will not go away :(
Both my kids have had terrible rashes from pooping so much. We use critic aid clear, a barrier cream you can find in medical supply stores (Shoppers Home Health around here). It works amazingly well, assuming the problem is irritation, not yeast or staph. DS's bum had ulcers that prescription creams werent helping. This cleared it up in a day or two. Not cloth diaper safe, though!

If you have lanolin around, that is a great barrier so the rash isn't irritated my wet/dirty diapers. It was the only thing that has worked on DS trying to clear up issues that even the urologist couldn't figure out.

Quote:
(i have VERY sensitive skin-use it on me & kiddos all the time) If not open/bloody, diluted white vinegar! It gets rid of yeast... but not sure if ok on "open" skin... although you CAN douche with it...that's pretty "open"...

Re: Diaper rash will not go away :(
Could it be a food allergy? Did he recently have something new in his diet?

You could try the gynelotromin. Kimmie I think was suggesting. Sween, bag balm, or acid mantle (not as oily as aquaphor or bag balm).
