Recommend books on natural birth.
I wanted a natural birth with my daughter but it didn't happen. My contractions started right off really close and I wasn't making progress so I got the epi which I loved. This time I have a midwife and am giving birth at a different hospital where the people who do the epi aren't as good so I'm kinda scared of it. I also know giving birth naturally is better for baby and faster recovery (though me and baby suffered no ill effects with my birth).
I did do hypnobirthing classes with my first but it didn't work for me. Any good books to read to help me prepare and try for a natural birth?

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth is my favorite.
Have you considered hiring a doula? That might help a lot! |

I really liked "Husband Coached Childbirth". It was good to have coping techniques whether you plan on having an epi or not.

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth.
Also, Spiritual Midwifery. It's kind of a head trip but still helpful. I have had four natural births, all really different, all really powerful.

Re: Recommend books on natural birth.
Get a doula!!!! Even if you have a husband/partner there to help coach, a doula is someone who isn't going to get shaken by your pain, and has a lot of knowledge and experience with birth. When your brain is in a haze, she can help guide you into different positions, remind you to eat/drink, apply chapstick, employ different massage techniques/hip squeezes... and a lot of the help of a doula is just having someone there knowledgeable in natural childbirth (many nurses at the hospital aren't) that can tell you "Yes, it's terrible. But where you're at at the moment is perfectly normal. Do ______ now, it's what helps other mothers in this situation." It's money WELL SPENT.
