My MIL made the comment....'you have trouble keeping up with the laundry, how are you going to cloth diaper?' My mom never made any negative comments, but I could tell she was hesitant. She wanted me to register for disposables, lol! I've even had people offer to buy me disposables upon learning I'm cloth diapering when I say I started looking into it to be thrifty.

ETA: I asked my friends on FB (1,000 of them) who has cloth diapered before and only 1 of my friends in Cali does. I've posted things here and there about cloth and now I have Mamas asking me about it.

i got alot of crap from my in laws when they found out i was going to cd. fil would say " youll last two weeks then yell at dh to go buy some pampers while you burn the cd in the back yard" i also got crap from my mil when she thought the acid in amber was asprin, and that i was going to harm lo.. she is a nurse and starting telling me all the horrible things about what asprin can do until i wrote down the name of the acid. "i learned this in nursing school" she would say then i said " yea well im a mom"

i think any thing that isnt mainstream in parenting gets looked down upon because its "taboo" or "weird"...

I think people just don't know anything about modern diapers, they think of flatsand plastic pants when you say your cding. One of my older sisters is my biggest supporter, she was also the first to tell me how me how nasty they would be before we started. Her 22 yo dd is expecting her first and my sister is trying to talk her into cloth too!

TBH, the thought of having to deal with poop more than you would with a sposie is still gross to me. DS is a 3x a day pooper and I still gag, I hate it. That is a huge turn off to plenty of people.

My mom hates dealing with the poop. Everything about it, from dumping it to dunking and swishing, having to wash the diapers, etc etc etc. When she watches my kids she will put sposies on them that she buys. I have no problem with this, since I cloth diaper cause I am cheap. lol

Simple ignorance. I would have said hell no to cloth diapering until I looked into it a little bit one day when I was pregnant and bored.
