Re: S/O kids hair

Have long hair (boy) - possibly
Have short hair (girl) - sure
Have no hair? - boy yes, girl yes in jr high or older
Have blue hair? - not yet, yes in jr high or older
Have a mohawk? not yet , yes in jr high or older
Have dreads? - I would really discourage this because I hate dreads as in I really, really can't stand them, especially on caucasian people I just think they look out of place.
Have a mullet? ugh, well I'd hope they didn't want one, I guess they could have one in junior high or so

I would let my boys do pretty much whatever they wanted with their hair as long as they took care of it. My DH is weird about hair and will not allow them to do anything besides a typical little boy haircut. He hates it when I dye my hair and doesn't get that it is fun to have it different colors and change it up. It is the one thing he is adamant about so I just let him take care of the boys haircuts for now. They are only 3.5 and 1.5 so there is no real arguing about hairstyles now. If we send them to private school, they will have to follow their rules.

My child can what they'd like with their hair, its theirs. As long as they take care of it, i.e. if my son or daughter wanted long hair but wouldn't brush it. That sort of thing. But otherwise I don't care.

Yes to all of the above regardless of sex.
if it isn't my hair it isn't my decision to make.

Re: S/O kids hair

Would you let your child:

Have long hair (boy) yep, he's growing it out right now and wants his shoulder length
Have short hair (girl) sure, but my girls like their hair long
Have no hair? yes, but I would discourage it only because I don't like it
Have blue hair? yes, my girls died a strip of their hair pink with kool-aid. DS's school wouldn't allow a color for their hair, so it would have to be done during the summer if he wanted it.
Have a mohawk? yes, he had a faux hawk for a little while but it was a pain for me to fix all the time so we let it grow on out.
Have dreads? Yes, but I would discourage it and I wouldn't help them dread it.
Have a mullet? No to this one...that's got to be the worst hairstyle ever (mullet and rat tails)
_____________
I have always let my kids decide how they want their hair. DD 11 wants to dye her hair brown (with a box kit) and I've told her 100 times that it's going to look bad when it starts to grow out, but she wants to do it anyways..so I'm letting her. She understands. And ODD is getting her hair cut in a style that I do not like, but again..it's her hair and it's her choice.

Re: S/O kids hair

As a general rule: no to all of the above.

By "no short hair for girls", I mean no boy-ish cuts for girls. I did pay for a "boy" cut for my daughter at 17, however. I don't like that people think she's a boy, but under the circumstances, I chose not to fight it. She's kept it short and has parts of it shaved. Sigh.

Re: S/O kids hair

As long as it's not a mullet or a rat tail, all is well. I have huge hangups about making changes to my hair and I sincerely hope not to pass that on.

My 3 y/I had shoulde length curly hair & is mistaken for a girl often. we would probably let him dye it, & MAYBE a Mohawk (for like a week!) he's a Pastor's son; I personally prefer for him & ds2 to have "cleaner" looks.

this

I feel like parents controlling hair choices just starts kids off on the path to rebel on even bigger stuff later in life
