Teeth bonding...

Anyone have it done? Im thinking about getting it done because my dentist said my braces made my teeth too tight together so i can't get veneers??

Braces are supposed to make your teeth tight together. I was an orthodontic assistant for 8 years.

Why do you need it? Anyway, bonding is fine. I know lots of people have it done. If I had to do one or the other, I'd prefer it, personally.

I hate the way my teeth look now. I had a root canal done on a tooth next to a front tooth and its discolored some, in pictures some times it looks like I'm missing a tooth. Then on the other side of the front 2 that tooth is a big of a wonky shape.

What would be a good second option? Veneers scare me as they grind down your teeth and are super expensive

I've had it done twice. One of my teeth came in with a big ridge down it, and one tooth had a small chip off the corner. Both were corrected with bonding.

Do you steer away from any particular foods? I don't eat gum really and sticky hard candy I don't eat bec of my crowns

That is a good reason to get it done. My husband has mottled enamel and we have discussed him getting bonding.

The bolded is why I would never get veneers. Also, I find them to be more "fake" looking. When I see them, I know immediately. For a second opinion, I'd find another dentist to give you a second opinion.

As for bonding and eating, as long as it is done properly, you don't have to worry too much about what you eat. Even gum would be fine since you don't chew it with your front teeth. I would probably avoid biting right into a caramel apple (or even a regular apple, but I cut mine anyway), but really it won't limit you much at all if any.

I have bonding on my four front upper teeth. I had a gap which was closed in the middle and on one side, and all four teeth were lengthened a bit. I love them. This was done 11 years ago and just this past year one side one has developed a small chip on the top layer...so I will have to get that buffed out. But I think it was definitely worth it, super strong and I don't tend to avoid any foods! I may brush too hard though...therefore the chip.

Brushing won't hurt it unless you are banging them or using steel wool. Though, you can hurt your gums by brushing to hard.

I thought about getting bonding for the same reason, gap. But, since I worked in an orthodontic office, I just got a few braces for literally a few weeks. Then, we bonded (very similar process) a little wire on the back of my two front teeth to keep them there. It's been there for about 13 years now. It has never even hinted at coming off. I wonder if it will ever come off. I hope not because I don't want to deal with it.

i had never heard of this till now. Im totally going to look into it. I had braces but due to missing teeth they could only push my teeth so close together. Maybe this would work for me
