S/O Do you worry about lead/chemicals in cheap pocket diapers?
Just curious, I read in another thread that some people are concerned about lead/chemicals being in pocket diapers. What do you think?

No, but there isn't much I do worry about.

Never realized there was a potential hazard.

Re: S/O Do you worry about lead/chemicals in cheap pocket diapers?
Yes. I avoid the china cheapies because there is no set standards from manufacturing to employees. You just don't know what you get from China. And I mean really you can't expect a great diaper made with good materials by employees paid a decent wage for under $5.00. You get what you pay for. I know it's impossible to avoid made in china but in products where I can avoid it, I chose too.

I do. I bought 3 Alva NIP with aplix off a FaceBook group over the summer and they had a very strong chemical smell to them. My other diapers and I have owned a lot of other diapers, never smelled like that. I sold them (with disclosures) because I couldn't justify keeping them. Yuck.

Absolutely! Especially with the TPU/PUL bonding process and the chemicals used during it.

Re: S/O Do you worry about lead/chemicals in cheap pocket diapers?
I know PUL is polyurethane laminate. I honestly don't know anything else about it or really just what that means in terms of chemicals. I confess to not really having researched them. Aside for my love of yarn this is one of my concerns with all PUL diapers or covers. If I were buying them I would definitely be even more concerned with cheap diapers because of a concern with cheaper processing methods of the diapers possibly being toxic. Since I much prefer wool I have never actually researched the other cloth diaper types out there though. I imagine it must be less of an issue than sposie chemicals though. At least you can wash some of it off. Something you simply cannot do with sposies.
