I never really understood this. If there isn't a medical reason, and you know it's not so important to you that you'll beat yourself up over not doing it, why not try? What's the worst that could happen?

The only person I know that decided not to ahead of time didn't want her boobs to sag...

Few I know said job not conducive to pump and like things. It is up to them....

I worked in the court system for a while and at a pregnancy center. Although I would encourage most people to breastfeed there are mothers out there who do drugs, drink, smoke and a variety of other things that would be harmful to a baby. They don't want to give that up and so they do formula. Very sad but true.

I think we can all agree formula is best for any baby in those conditions.

At one point we were using a feeding tube attached to a syringe, under a nipple shield, so that DD thought she was getting milk from me. It was awful!! And I hated every single minute of it. I never enjoyed my nursing relationship.

Fortunately I pumped for 3 months and gave DD breastmilk through a bottle. Without that pump though I would have moved straight to formula.

My mom didn't breastfeed because she said when I was born, it was looked at like you didn't have the money to buy formula so it was a social status thing. My dd has reflux and was diagnosed at 1 month old. Within 24 hours my grandma said my milk was probably bad and I should give her a bottle...and my MIL said I may have to put on her a bottle of formula if my milk was causing it.

Yes it is. I think my friend I mentioned probably made the correct choice not breastfeeding her son.

My mom is also like this.

Anytime I'n nursing a baby and they have ANY issue - sleeping trouble, stuffy nose, gas - she says "Well, it's probably time to put them on some formula!"

I'm very proud of the fact that 2 of my 3 kids never had a drop of formula, one never even drank from a bottle at all. straight from boob to sippy.

I think older people have a tough time with it.

...as far as the sexuality part, I think that's a little weird. I never connected my boobs to anything sexual. But that's just me, I guess.
