![]() I am sharing MY experience and saying IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT FORMULA. If you want to take that as a personal attack on you, or anyone else who didn't find donor milk for their baby, then so be it. i really just wish more people knew that milksharing was an option. When I had my first daughter, I had NO CLUE it was an option and through education and research, i found milkshare.com and now use many FB/email lists to find milk for us as well as connect other moms with donors who want to help. Go ahead and call me whatever you want, doesn't change the facts or the success that women can have with a little help from another mama ![]()

Re: Deciding not to breast feed in advancei
Personally, I would never give donor milk to my child - I would rather do formula. I have a huge supply and have offered to donate to a friend who was struggling so this is not an issue to us.
My issue with donor milk is that you do not know how safe it is at all times - I mean one day the mom cuts her hand washing dishes at church with a group of ladys and gets Hep.... Not exactly planned or known. Does she test every single oz of milk given - no. What if one of the donors was a nurse - the risks of AIDS is even creaper! Yes, I do understand that there are no proven cases of HIV/AIDS going through breastmilk but not something I would risk. Last edited by CntryMama; 02-11-2013 at 08:03 PM. |

I'm not sure why that hard work is so offensive to people here. If you don't want the hassle of donor milk, don't do it (i don't know if I could manage it myself!), but xtin is right--people do make it happen, usually because they are very opposed to their babies having formula.
