Recieving blankets and other as flats
Ok so I am getting brave here. I have recently discovered that I really like prefolds, but they are bulky, so I took some all cotton material I had and turned it into flats. I love it. {dh laughed because I was sure I would LOVE pockets and they irritate me to no end
}Anyway... I have been looking at getting more flats to use for home and at my mom's place and my dad's place while we travel. I am trying to do this as economically as possible though. BRU sells Osocozys online, so I thought I might order a set or two of those, and my step-mom has some 100% cotton jersey material I was going to cut and serge to pair with a doubler. But I want cuteness as well, so I was looking at receiving blankets, you can get them for cheap, and they are absorbent. What do you more experienced mamas think? I don't want to just jump in without doing my research here. |

Re: Recieving blankets and other as flats
I love my imagine bamboo flats, diaper rite flats and circo from target receiving blanket flats! the circo ones satisfy my need for cute and color
i lay a diaper safari trifold bamboo insert down the middle and do mostly folds around my baby with a snappi, boingo or pin with the circo ones so i can really see the cute but for my other flats i do padfolded in covers.

Re: Recieving blankets and other as flats
Our whole stash is receiving blankets and ikea burp cloths. Love them and don't feel the need to try anything else!

I love my receiving blanket flats. Definitely satisfy the need for cute while costing way less than a cute print fitted. I find them as absorbent as my GMD smalls. Had I known how much I'd like them, I probably never would have ordered those GMDs!

Re: Recieving blankets and other as flats
I am another one who loves the Circo receiving blankets from Target for use as flats. We ended up getting a lot for baby shower gifts and I was never able to get good use out of them as swaddles because Violet was such a Houdini from birth. I had been using the Imagine bamboo flats and looked over at the stack of blankets thinking, why not. I really like them. Super cute and nice and absorbent. My favorite aspect is how east they are to hand wash (I have coin-ops, so I hand wash sometimes) and how crazy-fast they dry.

I don't have any "real" flats. Just receiving blankets, and flour sack towels. Recieving blankets are by far my favorite of the two!they hold an ton, and are so cute!
