Serging

Anyone try to serging the edges of a bamboo or cotton Birdseye flat? Does it hold?

I don't understand why it wouldn't, if you can serge a one layer wipe or unpaper towel. Maybe you just have to unjust the stitch down small enough?

I was concerned because all the serged blueberry flats seemed to fall apart

Re: Serging

I recently ordered some bamboo terry prefolds from a wahm. Every single one of them had the serged edge fall off and unravel after the first prep wash. My son hadn't even used them yet. And this wash cycle wasn't even as long as my usual diaper cycle as I was simply washing to prep. I did get a refund in the end, after paying return shipping. But I was concerned that simply reserging the edges wouldn't fix it, as the fabric was so loose....plus it was frayed down so would have to be made shorter. I figured it would need a wider, denser serged edge to hold, and then that may rub against baby's tummy. She had made a very small serged edge. Might be safer to turn and topstitch with a zigzag really.
