We say make the bed, my husband thinks I'm nuts b/c I don't make the bed in the morning but I insist on making to crawl into it at night

it's making the bed here...ya know, that thing you do once a week when you change the sheets . i'd love a nicely made bed to crawl into every night, but the baby naps in ours during the day, the boys nap in theirs during the day, etc. i can't see remaking them several times a day.

Yep.

We call it dressing the bed when the bed is completely bare (like after washing everything), but making the bed when we're just pulling the sheets up, straightening the duvet, fluffing pillows, etc

Never heard of dressing the bed...just making the bed whether it's straightening or a complete sheet change.
