Re: What silly thing did you believe when you were a kid?
All my dolls had feelings and they all had parties with my stuffed animals when I was sleeping. I would cry if my mom carried one of my dolls by its head or limb.

I remember another one. I used to think that sticking up my pinky was profane. Similar to sticking up your middle finger. I used to hide my hand behind my back and stick my pinky up when I didn't like someone or what they were saying.

Re: What silly thing did you believe when you were a kid?
We went to a restaurant one year for Christmas dinner. It was a sort of lodge, so there were lots of animals mounted to the walls. Well, as we were waiting for our dinner, my darling older brother started pointing at the deer heads and quietly sang "You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen..." I was absolutely horrified. I think I cried the next year when I found out we were going to the same place.
When I was really little, I used to think that if you couldn't see someone, they couldn't see you either. So, if I had my back to someone, I was invisible! Oh, the things I thought I got away with...

Re: What silly thing did you believe when you were a kid?
This is my mum's - but it's my favourite.
In the UK, GBH stands for Grievous Bodily Harm, and is a criminal charge (i.e. suspect was charged with causing GBH). Someone told my mum when she was about ten that it stood for Ginger Ball Hairs. She believed it right up until she was 30 years old, when she emigrated to the UK. My parents were watching a cop show; on it, they were talking about someone who got five years for GBH. She turns to my dad, and goes, wow, they have apartheid here too!

I don't know if any of you watched the show "The Secret World of Alex Mack" when you were younger, or saw the movie Matilda, but I was obsessed with both. And I was convinced superpowers like they had were real and that it was only a matter of time before I got mine. I would narrow my eyes and pretend to move things with my mind like Matilda. I think I would've been devastated I never got my powers if I hadn't realized they weren't real.

I honestly believed that if I ran fast enough and jumped all while flapping my arms hard that I would lift up and fly.
So funny to say. I have memories of trying at recess.

Every time we go to my mom's home town right before we got there you could see these huge sugar beat shilohs. And I always thought they were the bushes on the side of the road lol

Re: What silly thing did you believe when you were a kid?
I thought that if I didn't tell my dad "I Love You" before bed, he would die in his sleep. I remember going to bed mad and I couldn't get to sleep...I just kept thinking over and over that my dad was gonna die and I didnt say I love you. So I would always sneak out of bed, run to his door, crack it open and yell I love you and then run back to bed.
