Service people alone with you in the house?

Does it happen?

In the past three days I've been here alone with DS while 2 guys delivered a fridge, 3 guys delivered furniture, and now a man is here installing our internet.

Is it silly that it makes me super uncomfortable?

I'm a pretty tiny person, around 100lbs, and DS is 8mos old. I know being able to schedule this sort of stuff asap is one of the perks of me staying home but gosh, it gives me the heebie jeebies.

Re: Service people alone with you in the house?

I've had them while I was home alone with the kids. I just make sure that dh knows (of course) that they are coming and I call or text him when they are here and then again when they leave.

we just had a furnace guy come out yesterday and I had the garage door open and stayed out with him until he left. Thankfully he was only here for 15 minutes and the kids didn't know he was even here.

when we had the DirecTv people here a few years ago, he was here for 2 hours and I just made sure I had my phone (cell) with me at all times and that the kids were with me.

Re: Service people alone with you in the house?

I've never had to have a service person in my house while I've been alone. I would be freaked out as well. I'm glad that DH and my father are handy with tools and what not and have always taken care of the kind of things you would need service people for , well for the most part anyway. I think the only service person we've ever had in our home was the internet guy and DH was home then.
Could you invite a friend over to hang out while the service men are there?

Maybe that's part of the reason it bothers me so much more now in this house. I get zero cell reception unless I'm upstairs. If I go downstairs I lose signal and it takes 20+ minutes upstairs to get it back.

Nope that's one thing either we'll schedule for when I'm home or I'll be home for.

I have never even thought about it. I am always alone with service people, but it does make sense to be on alert and have a cell handy.

I do not like it . We schedule around my husband and when he can be home.

I often am - well, as often as it needs to happen. I sometimes get a flicker of fear, but then it's gone. I look them in the eye, and offer tea or coffee, and make small talk, and then they're just people again.

I havne't given it a lot of thought really. Due to DH's work schedule it is almost impossible for him to be home. It is always me. I have no issues with it at all. I am perfectly capable person and am able to take care of myself and my kids.
