Girl using FB to search for her birth mother

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...&type=1&ref=nf

Thought I'd share it here to help her cause.

I hope she finds her birth mother and that it is a positive experience. But I'm curious on your thoughts on it. What do you think of this new phenomenon of using social media and crowd sourcing for personal reasons like this?

I think it's pretty neat, but I worry about what happens when the birth mom is located. What if she doesn't want to be found? This could be really hard on the birth mother since giving a baby up is never an easy thing and others can harshly judge that choice, even if it was for the best. Also, the level of public display for something so personal seems like it would put a huge strain on both of them to "perform" for their new audience, kwim?

I've seen quite a few of those this week. I think it's a neat idea to use that method!

I JUST shared a photo about a half hour ago and thought how weird it was you're posting here about. Also thinking how cool it is because how wide spread her message is already. Turns out it's a different girl. Gonna share her pic too. be back with the other one I shared too.

I have seen at least 10 of these in the past 2 days. A coulpe of them being soldiers. I am not sure how I feel about it really.

Re: Girl using FB to search for her birth mother

My sister reconnected with her biological siblings and mother on Facebook. Not like this girl though, her bio brother found her, then she looked up their mother. They all knew names and just had to search them.
I think it's great that social media can be used for such a purpose. I hope there's a happy ending to this story.

Re: Girl using FB to search for her birth mother

I actually have a younger brother that I haven't spoken to in years. I found him on facebook on his 18th birthday a couple weeks ago, got up the courage to message him, anddddd.....facebook bumped the message back to me. I couldn't get the nerve back up to message him again. It's all very complicated.

Hope you can get in touch with him when you're ready to try again.
