lactose intolerance :(

We suspect that my husband has recently developed lactose intolerance. His symptoms are pretty uncomfortable and bad and its pretty clear that dairy is causing it.

Does anyone know if milk in baked goods or pancakes, etc is ok for lactose intolerance or do I have to completely cut out milk in everything? I'm kind of afraid to experiment on him by serving him pancakes with milk in them.

If I buy a milk subsitute (soy or almond) will I notice a difference in my baking/cooking?

I'm lactose intolerant and it doesn't bother me in baked goods. I don't know if that's across the board though.

DD is lactose intolerant and doesn't have any problems with dairy in baked goods or yogurt.

The protein that messes up most lactose intolerant people can be baked/ cooked out. Might just take some experimentation

The lactose (sugar) is broken down when baked. Also know not all cheese is the same, soft cheese have way higher lactose and hard cheese like old cheddar has very little lactose. Also know when eating out French fries are often blanched in whey. Yogurt is usually fine as well as long as it has a lactobacillus culture. Good luck!
