Other than whats been said - tofu, and get a lot of dairy. You can also look for whole grain pastas and breads, because those have quite a bit of protein. Also, sneak stuff in. Almond butter is YUMMY in smoothies and not super nutty tasting.

Red beans and rice are an excellent combo. Cottage cheese in an avocado. Goat cheese and hummus wraps. I love firm tofu chilled and sliced! Try different types of nuts, too: I can't eat peanuts or peanut butter while pregnant, but I do like macadamias, almonds and cashew butter.

I agree about avoiding processed supplements - and that includes commercial soy "meat" and "dairy" substitutes. Plain soybeans, fresh-pressed soy milk, or tofu are good.

Chickpeas (aka hominy or garbanzo beans), edamame, spinach, and peanut butter were my go to's when meats weren't appetizing.

I agree that foods are better than protein bars or powders but if you want a boost, look into hemp protein. I believe its more natural. My friends naturopath recommended it to her. She blends it into a smoothie. I second the greek yogurt and nuts and seeds. Meat actually gives us to much protein. Maybe make a trail mix you can snack on everyday

Re: I need ideas to get more protein

When I couldn't stomach traditional protein sources, I got some Kashi Go Lean cereal and granola bars. They have a fair bit of protein. I mixed mine with yogurt in the morning, yum! I also pick up those Bolthouse Farms protein plus drinks from time to time. They aren't awesome for you, but it's a quick way to get a lot of protein.

Re: I need ideas to get more protein

I was staying away from meat because it made me want to run away, and soy I just don't stomach well. I would make a shake pretty much every day with greek yogurt, milk, peanut butter, and fig.

1/2 g protein in each fig (I would use 4) = 2g
2 tbsp PB = 8g
1/2 cup milk = 4g
3/4 cup greek yogurt = 16-18g depending on brand

= 30g protein just from one shake.

I would buy the large ***e greek yogurt at Costco where it was very inexpensive and add bananas and berries when I got sick of plain fig.

ETA - WOW DS filter! F A G E is the yogurt brand

My midwife suggested courage cheese. It have fourteen grand of protein per half cup. Almond milk helps me at work. Kind bars are great too. They have seven grams.
