This except my son is 20 months old. In the summer I do give in and give him juice. But only because he was showing signs of deydration and refusing to drink. Apparently my milk is lacking in fluids but not fat as he gains quite nicely even when refusing to eat.

That's why my doctor recommends giving milk at the end of the meal. She finds that kids, especially picky ones, guzzle their milk and refuse to eat their meal.

I typically give the kids water with dinner. If I'm going to be out at night, then DH usually gives DD milk at dinner since she won't get her bedtime feed.

Water, juice, or vitalyte. My dd can't tolerate any cow or goat dairy.

I'll often do 1/2 juice, 1/2 water, and a pinch of salt.

Water. Or Boob. He refused cow's milk till he was almost 2 and now he will occasionally have it with cereal or a sip here or there but he rarely asks for it. We have a juicer and I make it fresh several times a week and he can have as much of that as he wants (usually 4-6 oz).

I agree with others that giving cow's milk is a personal choice.

Well I can barely ever get DS to drink from a cup or sippy but at meal I offer water. I also offer almond milk for another drink alternative. It has twice the calcium of cows milk and less calories so it's mroe of a drink and less of a meal.
