Softbums vs Flips
Everyone seems to love their Flips with Prefolds! How about Softbums and prefolds? Would that work? I like how they don't have snaps all over them. What weight do you think they would start working and what size prefolds?

Re: Softbums vs Flips
Softbums are a very unique system that work from roughly 5 pounds all the way to 40 because of their slide2size leg elastics. Infant size prefolds work best for trifolding, and are very trim in either of the Softbums covers.

Softbums are very nice! They have microfleece lining the inside, so you may need to use a fresh cover more often. But, no exposed pul on baby. The velcro is nice and strong too, better than the flips. They are more expensive, but a nicer cover and truly one-sized. The omni also can double as a pocket.
I use mine (omnis) with prefolds and it works great. Also flats padfold nicely in there and don't slide around or bunch like in a slippery flip. I have some flips too- they are a no-nonsense workhorse cover. Flips are cut a bit wider through the crotch. |

As for what size prefolds, it depends on the size of the baby. Pick the appropriate prefold size and adjust accordingly.

Re: Softbums vs Flips
Is there a softbum diaper that works like a pocket? I am confused by the two options.

The omni is like a pocket...it can also be used with a snap in insert.

The echo is more of a cover that can have their jnserts snapped in but the omni can be used as a pocket... My baby was 6lbs and we started using echos over orange gmd prefolds about a week after she was born... I think they are an awesome diaper.. It was a bit bulky at first but any os dipe is especially on a 6 pounder

Re: Softbums vs Flips
I really want to try a softbum, worried about the fabric inner and going through more covers in a day than flips though, since the flips can be wiped clean. I may have to get a softbum diaper soon & try it!

I love my SoftBums! DS3 can't have PUL touching him so these work wonderfully.
