Yes, I only let my girls out when I can stand out side and supervise, even with my roo there the hawks will take any opportunity.

Well, lost my roo yesterday - to the neighbor's freaking dog. Not sure exactly whose dog it is, so I went to the next door neighbors in the direction the dog went (he came back for more, but DH was out there).

As soon as I got up on the porch, the shut out the lights, and ignored my knocking. nce I pulled back out of their driveway, the lights went back on.

I'm so upset. I loved that roo. I'm sending my remaining girls to live with a friend who has an empty chicken tractor. They will stay there until the snow melts and we can rebuild the chicken run.

I am so sorry. They obviously know if they are pretending not to be home. I am so sorry about your Roo....

So sorry Do the neighbors have kids that might have been home alone when you knocked? It reminded me of something kids might do. I know my kids aren't allowed to answer the door if I'm not home and I can totally see the younger ones turning off lights and "hiding" if someone pulled in and knocked on the door. My teen would probably just roll her eyes at them, but not stop them from doing so.
