I have a little of everything, and while I definitely prefer snaps for the durability and easy laundry, I have to say I would go w RaR for an aplix cover. The materials and construction as a whole are just way better in comparison to Thirsties. Plus the NB sized RaR covers are almost identical in sizing to Thirsties Duo 1, the rise the width everything. I got curious and compared them side by side.
I also really like Best Bottoms covers over my contours, fitteds, and flats. Again, a snap rise but they are really well made covers and so stinking cute!

Re: Preferences in a cover?
In four years of cloth diapering, my favorite covers have to be Thirsties and Imse Vimse. Both have leg gussets. Imse Vimse has good aplix but they basically come in white, brown and white stripes, and a couple kind of boring prints. If Imse Vimse had more colors/prints I probably would have had a whole stash of them. They do run big though.
