First Time Mom book?

I'm looking for a good first-time mom book for a baby shower. Maybe a little funny, but overall I want something that's a really good reference guide for those middle-of-the-night panic moments, or the-baby-won't-stop-crying-and-i'm-losing-it moments.

Suggestions?

Baby 411. Easy to read. I would also get the "Girlfriend's Guide to the First year"

Bringing Up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman.

It is actually a memoir about her experiences raising children in France (she is from the US) but full of awesome, practical advice about "how France raises a society of good sleepers, gourmet eaters, and reasonably relaxed parents". It is also hilarious

I just saw on Amazon that the same author has a new book out called Bebe Day by Day: 100 Keys to French Parenting. I haven't read either book, though.

Maybe What to Expect The First Year would be a good shower gift, OP.
