Donating Breastmilk
This is not a s/o, although another thread got me thinking about it. With DD I looked into donating BM and just decided against it because the only way I knew of to donate it was to this organization who charges like $4 an ounce. I wasn't about to take the time to pump, save and donate so someone could make a fortune off my milk. Im more interested in giving to families who can't afford that anyway.
Is there some way/place/board to give BM for free? What hoops do you have to jump through to become a donor? I did post offers elsewhere for my milk but the only things I heard back where from woman totally irrate with how disguisting it was to offer, and men who were telling me they'd pay me $15 an ounce if I could offer them a steady supply

Re: Donating Breastmilk
You didn't take them up on their $15 an ounce offer or even try to counter offer with $20 an ounce? Really no entrepreneurial bone in your body!!
![]() I'm sorry I am not really any help. Perhaps you could contact a local WIC office or a lactation consultant, or perhaps the local LLL chapter. They may be able to connect you with someone in need.

Re: Donating Breastmilk
Human Milk for Human Babies on Facebook, search for your state. Also MilkShare, or call your local independent (NOT hospital-based) lactation consultant or homebirth midwife and give them your info - they likely know of mamas in need. And as a recipient of donor milk, THANK YOU and :bighugs:

Didn't read other responses so many this has already been mentioned.. I used to donate. I went through milkshare.com. There were no fees. I just posted an ad and was quickly contacted by dozens of mamas in need. I ended up going with a mama who was just a few hours away from me. Every so often she and her family would drive to my house to pick up the milk. We didn't do any blood work, tests, etc. She offered to pay me many times but I didn't accept. She did supply me with the milk storage bags though.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Maybe our birthing center has a program for this and I'll check out those sites. I'd totally written it off cause it just doesn't seem fair to charge ppl so much for it. I'm sooo excited there are other options! And excited to actually be able to donate this time
