Does your child's class have a room parent?

We have 3 room parents - one lead/head and two others (I'm an other). The teacher emails the lead, she emails us - we collected money, got the Christmas gift, etc, lead parent sends out reminders about parties etc. Other than that, we don't do anything.

That's awful that they're doing it that way

I don't think we have a room parent... I don't know!

The teacher sometimes asks for volunteers but I'd be more trouble than help with my 19 month old hurricane. I'd love to read a story to the class. I wish I could.

I don't like having room parents. I think the practice lends itself to cliques and other problems. Both of my dd's classes this year have room parents, and we only heard from them a few times around the beginning of the school year. Now it seems like the teachers are sending out any requests for items or volunteers needed, I think the room parents just kind of petered out.

So, went to DS's Valentine's Day party where I received an apology from the room parent....and then proceeded to have to listen to her and the other moms talk about all the other parties and events I missed because I didn't know about them. I was pretty peeved. It was very frustrating.
