What all are they used for and when do you start putting them on your baby?

Colic, teething and general pain control - I know there is more but these are the reasons we use them. All my kiddos wear them to help keep growing pains at bay. My husband even wears a rugged looking one to help with arthritis pain in his neck.
My youngest had an adjustable anklet I put on her right after birth that she just out grew at 6 months and now wears a necklace. Sent from my DROID RAZR using DS Forum

Re: Amber necklaces
I use them for teething but I swear by them for reflux as well. My YDD wore one from a week old.

And what about sleeping? Do your babies wear them when they sleep?

Re: Amber necklaces
Both my kids have worn them when sleeping. I make sure the necklaces are snug (but not too tight) around the nec. That said, I actually make and sell amber necklaces, and I don't advise necklaces being left on at night for safety reasons... but my kids have always had the most trouble teething at night and needed the necklaces the most then. Oh well.
![]() Oh, and I don't remember with my first, but with my 2nd he started drooling/teething at 2m, so I made him a necklace then, and he still wears it (just turned 1yr).

Re: Amber necklaces
I just found out that the boutique my sister works at sells them. I am bummed I never bought one for my DS when he was a colicky baby. I will for sure, for the next kid.
