A pp question for you mamas that do cervical checks
I'm 2&1/2 wks postpartum and I've been starting to feel ready to DTD. I've only been spoting the past few days so I decided to see how my cervix was doing. It is really low; feels mostly closed and pretty firm but it is less than an index finger from my vaginal opening. I checked squating and standing and it was the same. I know my body still has some recovery to do from birthing a baby but is it normal for my cervix to be that low?

Well, today my cervix is up a little higher. I'm guessing that everythings just healing still. On Google I found similar symptoms being uterus prolapse but I don't think that's it. Its not that low. So, here's hoping for a continued healthy recovery

A prolapse is anything that isn't as high as normal. What you're describing definitely sounds like a prolapse. But you can have a prolapse from giving birth that corrects itself, usually by the 6 week pp mark.

My cervix was super low after my last one- and I had a c/s- it was maybe only half an inch or so inside. I was googling prolapse as well- and asked my mw about it- she said that everything is loose in there, and it would tighten back up and move back where it was supposed to be- I don't remember exactly when, since I stopped really checking, but I know by 6 months for sure it was back to normal.

That makes sense. It seems to be getting better so hopefully it will correct itself fully!

Re: A pp question for you mamas that do cervical checks
This is one of the reasons why I've decided if we ever have another, I will wait at least 4 weeks before resuming DTD. I just think that it's better to give the body time to recover. Last time we didn't wait that long and I regret it. I didn't have any physical issues...it just didn't feel 'right' to me.

Cervix position doesn't matter while waiting to Dtd.
It takes at least 4 weeks for your cervix to close all the way and the giant placental detachment site to heal. When you have sex you introduce many bacteria into your uterus and into the wound where your placenta was. If you are still spotting then your cervix is still open and you still have wound that isn't healed. The last thing you want is a uterine infection. That doesn't mean you can't be intimate though, masterbation is fine if you don't put I anything inside.

It was at least 8 wks before we DTD the first time after, and it was pretty uncomfortable- not painful, mind you- but it didn't feel "right" for sure, and definitely dry :-).
