I have a 10 lb ham. We're gonna have snow for the next two days and I want to cook it.
I can't decide if I should do ham and bean in a crock or slow on the stovetop and cook all day or cook ham separately and make beans or mashed potatoes or whatever to go with it for a couple days. What's your simple ham recipes and share them with me! Thanks!

Re: Need recipes!
How funny, I spent this afternoon making a 12 lb ham
![]() Here are my plans: White beans in the crockpot, served in a bowl with chunks of ham and crusty bread on the side. Ham, peas, sauteed onions over pasta in a parmesan cheese sauce Saute chopped onion in butter, add two tbsp flour and cook until incorporated. Add two cups warmed milk and stir until thickened. Add parmesan to taste. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add peas and cooked chopped ham. Stir in one pound cooked pasta and serve with added shredded parmesan on top. Ham and cheddar calzone (these are for the freezer) I just fold pizza dough in half. I'm pretty lazy about it. My husband refers to them as Ham Pizza Hot Pockets which makes me laugh, because he's 34 and should be able to properly refer to a calzone. One of these soups will be experimentation for the bone http://oldfashionedliving.com/beansoups.html

Guess we had the same plans. I was so happy to see a lone sale ham sitting at Aldi earlier. It was calling me!
![]() Mmmm crusty bread and beans is a good idea. at the Dh. I frequently make ham and cheese pizzas to eat with split pea soup. My 7yo loves bodily humor so he always starts in with the 'Mommy we can't eat spit pee soup for dinner!!'

Re: Need recipes!
I like to "bake" my ham in the crockpot. Just throw some brown sugar and pine apple juice in there, put the ham on top. You can glaze it like you would in the oven, we use pineapple slices and stud it with cloves and let it go on low for a few hours (depends on the size). First night- ham with green beans and rice. 2nd http://www.mspimama.com/2008/03/crea...-biscuits.html (can use whatever milk). then its a toss up some of the meals we make with the left over ham are ham pot pie, ham and cheddar biscuit sandwiches, loaded hash browns, black bean soup (thin with whole beans, not pureed and thick), jambalaya (using only ham and smoked sausage), Hawaiian pizza, ham, broc and cheese calzone thing, and every veggie in the kitchen soup.

Re: Need recipes!
I usually just bake it regular (like holiday) and serve it with a veggie and mashed cauliflower. Then I'll chop some up and make split pea soup. Chop some up and make scalloped potatoes and ham. Chop some up and make red beans and rice. Chop some up and make ham, broccoli, and cheese rice.
I loooove ham. |

Well I ended up sticking I with about 15 cloves, packing it with brown sugar and baking it for about 4 hours. It was so yummy and tender! I sliced up potatoes with onion and peppers and made home fries, sautéed asparagus and steamed green beans.
Theres a whole gallon bag of meat left then a bag of the bone with its leftovers. Tomorrow or night after I will cook down the bone in a pea soup pot. Love me some ham!!
