2 year old grabbing head in pain

All weekend, my 2 yo DS would randomly, a couple times a day, grab the left side of his head above his ear. He would cry and sometimes scream in pain. It's always the same spot. At first, I thought it was an attention getting thing. He's been crying more since new baby arrived 2 wks ago. He also had a 101.6 fever last night. Thoughts?

That was a thought I had, but he's not grabbing his ear. He's grabbing his head, above and slightly back.

I don't know, but my ds (2) has been running a similar fever and grabbing his forehead in tears. His nose is stuffy, too, so I imagine its sinus related. I'm giving him Ibuprofen and that helps him. I'm sick, too.

Yep, sinus infection headache... We all have it too and the headache had me in tears.

I vote ear infection- even if he's not pulling the ear itself- pain doesn't necessarily have to be there- it can radiate to a nearby location.

I would bring him into the doctor to be sure it is nothing. Could be an ear infection.

This. And when they are that little and it hurts a lot it's hard to tell exactly where.

you do not have to have a fever to have an ear infection and if its deep, pain may be felt behind the ear. I would bring the child in (and I am not one to go to Dr's) I would also possibly get a adjustment from a chiro incase there is a pinched nerve causing pain in the head. I get that pain often and its from a nerve stuck in my neck.
