My 2 year olds behavior

My 2 yo DS has been head butting me and my husband for a while now. It seems like he thinks he is playing because he smiles after he's done it. We firmly tell him "no," explain that it hurts mom and dad and that he needs to be nice. Now he just did it to two kids in daycare. Plus, he is on distraction mode. He crashes, throws and tries to destroy everything. He also hits his head on other things and says "ow!" I'm at a loss for what to do.

Oh, and he kicks and fights during diaper changes. It hurts! He just thinks its funny. Don't know what to do here either. We've explained the same thing in this situation too.

I would try to have a less dramatic response and calmly put him in time out. It sounds like he is doing this for attention.

as far as diaper changes go, this is why I still have my 2yo on the changing table. It's the only place that she allows us to change her without a fight.

the throwing things - depends on what it is, but you can put the item in time out if he is geniunely wanting to play with it. Then give it back the next day and explain that we have to be nice to our things. My daughter now thinks her bear gets sad when he gets thrown. We don't do item timeout because it's not a big issue in our house, but I have read that one on here from other mommas.

the head butting............. you say you explain that it hurts.. are you being overly dramatic? I find that helps sometimes. Like you're really really hurt? When DD does kick on the changing table, I restrain her legs and tell her how much she's hurting momma and the baby. I try to make big sad faces and then look away from her like I'm really upset or something. Doesn't happen so much anymore.
