Does the bulk of flats/prefolds ever make you feel like giving up ?

Does the bulk of flats or prefolds bother you (especially if you are diapering and older child) ?

I'm using flats on my 3.5 yr old but often they look incredibly bulky under daytime clothes and make me consider putting disposables on him.

Flats work well and I don't really want to give up on them but I do sometimes wonder if I'm not quite putting them on right

How are you putting them on? Flats are one of the trimmest options out there. I would think they should be extremely trim on a 3.5 year old.

I use the super bulky prefolds at night time. Pockets during the day or fittieds. The bulky mess doesn't make me feel like giving up.the nasty poop does. Lol blah I hate scraping of poop.

Flats are very trim.

It's never made me feel like giving up, in fact I kind of like the bulk because that's the only way my kids could hold their pants on. But I've never had a child that old in diapers except for night/nap, so I imagine it may be more discouraging as they get older.

I padfold flats and they are almost as trim as sposies. My DH even asks me when we use flats, why we are using sposies that day? They are that trim.

Trifolded prefolds are ridiculously bulky, though. Pants never fit over them!

Yes I feel like that about prefolds, but definitely not flats! They are so awesomely trim! My 3 and a half year old has been potty trained for a while and he was never in cloth, but one time I tried a flat on him just to see what it would look like. They are even trimmer on a toddler/pre-k age kid, like they are wearing nothing at all! What fold are you using? Are you getting them tight enough? I looked on YouTube and the great flat thread to learn how to fold a flat. Not quite there with prefolds yet

I kite fold and boost with a small prefold then fasten with a pin either side. It's the bit between his legs that seem bulky, if he's in shorts theres always loads of unsightly diaper showing.

Maybe I don't fold them quite right or fasten them tight enough. Has anyone got pics of what their LO looks like in a flat before and after having clothes put on ?
