Re: Hypnobabies

Thanks! I too thought that was crazy. My doctor told me it was illegal and I have seen other PA mothers say the same thing. Also in PA you can do an unassisted home birth or use a CNM not a CPN. The cost for them is also very high and not all health insurance providers will cover them. With dd1 I read a lot of Ina May Gaskin and spiritual midwifery books. They gave me lots of helpful info us it was nice reading peaceful birth stories from other mamas. Oh and Our Bodies,Ourselves was also helpful. Not hypnobabies but very interesting .

And water birth is not illegal. In any state. Maybe against hospital policy.

I love the idea of hypnobirthing but it didn't work out for me to go to the class, and I had to have a c-section anyway. I had scarring from a prior surgery to take pre-cancerous cells off the old cervix. Anyway, if someone is interested in the book and one of the cd's, I have one that someone could have FFS. (Hope this is ok on this board, otherwise I'll relist it in another section!)

I was told by a local woman that does placenta encapsulation that I should say I want my placenta for religious reasons. I have been thinking about doing that. Both the hospital and birth center told me water birth was illegal. Maybe that is just their way of not letting people do them. If that is the case then that is just awful of them to do that.

Re: Hypnobabies

I have a friend that just had her baby using hypnobabies. She called me to let me know what an awesome experience it was and to encourage me to study it again. She said she felt the urge to leave for the hospital although she was sure they were going to tell her she had not dilated enough and would send her home. She arrived and was dilated to 10cm! She said she heard the nurses and staff all awing at the fact that she was 10cm and so calm and collected. She said it truely was an amazing experience!

How much partner participation is required with hypnobabies?

They have the option of total partner participation or no partner participation. They have all the scrips on disk for those who do not have a partner to read to them. You birth-partner can e anyone though. Not just the father. A girl in my class had a friend as her birth-partner because her husband is deployed and another had no partner at all.
