Limited credit card (or debit) suggestions?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone out there can recommend a good credit or debit card that actually declines a purchase if you are over instead of charging you for going over your max. I don't want any sort of overdraft protection, just need it to decline when over! You'd think this would be a no brainer, but I'm finding this more challenging than I thought.

I actually belive ALL credit card companies have to do this; however, most people unknowingly waive that right when they sign the paperwrk without reading.
Ha ha, yes you must now opt in, so make it clear what you want and they shall provide!

You could get a pre-paid card like a Serve card. (From Discover)

If you have issues with overspending, maybe you should look into a cash/envelope system.

I can't spend over on my debit. I declined the option to allow this when we opened the acct. Maybe call the bank and ask?

Ooh, prepaid card, what a great idea! The card is for DH. We don't currently use cc, only debit, but he over spends his budget every month for hobbies and it makes me bonkers. So I'm trying to figure out a way to limit him monthly.

I think Serve is actually American Express

PNC Bank card only goes through if the money is available in the bank. Plus the update pending transactions as they happen. Only a few transactions take till the next day to show pending.

Not always true...gas for example, when paid at the pump sits at $1 for days

For my dh with a spending habit...I gave him the ING (now Capital One360) Teen Money checking account.
