Oh, adding that DD was 6lbs too and wore preemie size Huggins for 2 weeks before newborn diapers fit her, I was waiting on One Size to fit her to start cloth at the advice o so many people, but it was awful, she could have worn a newborn stash for 5 months, she was only 12 pounds at 6 months! 4 years later she is still a 5th percentile kid.

Subbing to a great thread! DD was born 6 lbs 14 oz, but we didn't start CDing until around 8 lbs, with my stash of BG 4.0 and Flips, with the flip inserts and standard infant pfs! Extremely bulky but worked. I actually believed OS were OS, and could fit at 8 lbs. I WISH WISH WISH I would've had NB dipes!
Eta: The trimmest of these were a BG 4.0 stuffed with only the NB insert.

Re: Diapering a small newborn
Mia is 3 months old and just now 12lbs. She was born 6.11lbs and has been a slow grower but she is growing.
She is our teeny tiny miracle baby. Didn't work Rumparooz newborn covers Simplex NB BG 4.0 Worked Flips.....crazy enough I was able to fold the front down a little and fasten it and it wasn't a terrible fit. I used Aplix only. Thirsties size 1 covers over trifolded preemie prefolds Sunbaby size 1 with preemie prefolds |

Re: Diapering a small newborn
DD2 - born at 5lbs. 13oz. and down to 5lbs. 7oz. when we started CDing
Didn't work - BG XS (came up to her armpits and had blowouts) NG Grovia AIO (fit perfectly but wicked horribly) Lil Joeys (fit was great but every single one leaked) WAHM AI2 called Little Angel WAHM AIO by mountainsidecedarconcepts What worked - NB Simplex (the legs gapped but, amazingly, never leaked.....ever!) Blueberry Mini Pockets WAHM AIO TeenyTinyHiney I didn't own any for the nb phase, but I think the Thirsties Duo AIO Size 1 would have fit also because the leg holes snap down so very small. |

Re: Diapering a small newborn
My daughter was 5.9 at birth and dropped to around 5. We used bikini twist for prefolds. My favorite covers were actually green acre designs small pockets. The side snapping helped on skinny legs.
