Re: Toy Thread! Join Us!
TeachinAuntie, you inspired me! I am making that bear for my son. I have a question about the pattern, is the middle forehead piece supposed to be longer than the side head pieces?
Oh and start thinking about what you want us to do next week! |

Re: Toy Thread! Join Us!
Sorry just seeing this....the middle forehead piece is smaller-ish. They join together on a curve.. The pattern was a tiny bit confusing a d having dne one, it makes a lot more sense now.

Re: Toy Thread! Join Us!
Here is the bear, I am not in love with it, lol. The eyes are creepy. I should have done the animal eyes like the pattern called for. I may sew buttons on. This bear is huge! It is also ridiculously heavy, but I think that is because I stuffed it with fabric scraps instead of polyfill. I am proud that I made a teddy bear though!
![]() ![]() ![]() The rectangle is a marble maze kind of like this http://coopcrafts.com/2011/10/14/ but out of two pieces of felt and hand sewn together. I have an 11 month old, so I did mine really simple and with a huge marble. The thing with the ribbons is an empty icing container, the ribbons go all the way through and are tied off with large wooden beads. The ribbons make different noises when pulled through the container, and one ribbon has a bell on it. The block is just a simple cloth block, stuffed with fabric scraps and an empty pill bottle with three pennies in it to make a nice rattle. ![]() ![]() ![]() (disclaimer: These toys do pose a choking hazard (marbles, beads, duh) and you should never leave your child unsupervised.) |

Re: Toy Thread! Join Us!
The marble maze is an awesome idea. I'm going to have to whip up a couple for the church bag and my purse (for those unexpected waits). I'd love to see more small simple ideas like this.
The bear is really cute. You say he's big - like how big? I may have to bookmark him and do Christmas bears this year (I already got them bunnies for Easter or I'd make easter bears). I've got sick kids this week so while I'm lurking, I'm not sewing right now. |

Re: Toy Thread! Join Us!
I made mine from recycled wool & stuffed with polyfil loosely. He is LIGHT & fluffy but sits at 14" tall & stretched out is 24" long (ear to toes).
