I'm having a little (okay, a LOT) of anxiety about going through labour again. First baby was a scheduled c-section and second was a successful vbac - 14 hours of back labour and really bad tearing. Our hospital's only pain management options are demerol or epidural. Please tell me I'll get through this and it will be easier than last time!!

Can you get a doula where you are? Have you read Ina Mays books? Even if you don't want med free, reading the positive birth stories really have me confidence

I had a doula last time and she was amazing. I'm thinking about having one again but I'm not sure I can afford it.

I will look into Ina May. Any particular book you'd recommend?

My first baby's labour and delivery was awful but I didn't even realize that until my second's birth, which was awesome. Like PP, I'm actually looking forward to the idea of a third some day.

What did you do differently?

My first VBAC was really long and painful. Almost 16 hours of active labor, followed by 3 hours of pushing. My second was a lot easier. I was in early labor for quite a while, but the hard can't talk I am don't want to be doing this labor was about 3.5 hours with 30 minutes of pushing.
