Need advice on ideas to make $ to pay off van...
Hi! Well, we just payed off all our cc debt with our tax refund, and have our (baby) emergency fund. Now I want to attack the only remaining debt, the van. We have about 3 years left on the loan, but I want to pay it off quickly. Getting a job outside of the home is not something that I want/and/or am willing/able to do, and we live on 1 small income which I am grateful to have. I am a stay at home mom to 3 kids, 2 in elementary school, and a 2 year old at home with me all day.
I have made all the cuts I can in the budget, and am now looking at ways to make money that I can do from home. I need suggestions, but the only thing I am not open to is any kind of direct selling. I got into that once before and ended up 11,000 in debt (totally my fault, but I just don't want to get back into that kind of thing again.) Here are my "skills"- B.A. in History Sewing Knitting general craftiness I have heard horror stories of people never making any money doing crafty stuff, and slaving away for hours... Any advice is welcome. I really have a passion for paying off this van!

Re: Need advice on ideas to make $ to pay off van...
When we were working our way through paying off our debt I started a home daycare. We were able to live off of my income and use my husband's income to pay off our debt. Worked great as I was home with my kids all day and they got socialization from playing with other kids their own age.

Re: Need advice on ideas to make $ to pay off van...
How about sub teaching you get 50-80 a day (here) and only need a ba and you'd only have find another mom who would be willing to take your 2 y/o once and a while and co-op it with her for a day w/o her child. U could do it 2x a month and find its enough to bring in a little more for that snow ball.

I "make" more doing swagbucks than I did knitting. But knitting is more enjoyable. Are you organized enough to thrift store shop and resell? (I am not, but some mamas here do amazing.)
Maybe a family or 2 needs before/after/no school day care? Then you would still have days with your 2yo free.

Home daycare
Another idea--trading it for something smaller or cheaper. We had a small car until our fourth child was born. It was tight, but we all fit safely and were able to continue saving to pay cash for a van. Last edited by Melinda29; 03-09-2013 at 12:09 PM. |

If you have a degree in history, can you put together a class for local homeschoolers on a time period you are particularly in love with?

Maybe be a history tutor at your home for kids/teens.

I agree with home tutoring or babysitting at your place. Alot of mamas around u will look at your experience with 3 kids as a great résumé! Swag buck is nice but it does take time. There is also online surveys with well trusted companies.
