I just weaned my 21 month old. I would have let him go longer but I needed to get back on my daily migraine medicine and you can't take it while breast feeding.

LOL! Mine is 15 months and my mom asked our nightime routine and I replied well he nurses, cuddles and then goes down. She replies with a what??? your still nursing and how long are you going to let that go on... I always reply the same, "it will probably be awkward in college so probably by then".

ugh. Im so tired of the way people treat BFing moms. My friend thinks its absolutley discusting. She says its gross and thats not what they were made for..UH? OK...what the heck were they made for? Certainly not for your husbands use...

I'm already getting this at 10 months. For crying out loud she's still an infant! Admittedly I think that some people just got the wrong idea when I said I wanted to breast feed until I went back to work, which I will be doing in the next couple weeks. I meant that I would be ok with our breastfeeding relationship not surviving the transition of me going back to work after my mat leave. Not that I didn't want to continue past that. I would like to continue, I just recognize that it might not be possible and I"m ok with that.

I had THE FUNNIEST comment yesterday....

My neighbor asked me if my 3yr old was eating solid foods yet? I said "oh yeah, hes been eating solid foods for a couple of years now". Then she says, "oh, then he's all done breastfeeding?"

As if you can't eat solid foods AND breastfeed.

So, she thought, all this time, that he was JUST breastfeeding.

Sigh...

I really, honestly, in my heart of hearts believe that most people are simply uneducated. They just don't understand how important it is. As long as people are being decent about it and I have the time, I really try to educate people about the benefits. If they're not being decent, then I get a bit snarky. Or, if I don't have the energy, I just "smile and wave".

I am so curious to see what the upcoming months will bring. My mom can barely deal with me nursing infants, let alone a child over 1.

Oh I'm sure I will start getting some judgmental comments...my DS is 11.5 months and nowhere close to being ready to be done. I'm also pregnant with our second, which for some reason makes people assume I will stop breastfeeding. My FIL recently asking me if nursing still "worked right" when you are pregnant. Ummm...yep. Yep it does.
