I have three sets that were passed down to me by my mil when she passed. I am scared to use them, not to mention, i never have a chance to use them. One of the sets belonged to dh's great, great grandmother. The other to his great, great, great grandmother.( i think I have that right)

Re: if you have China do you use it?

The Tiffany Limoges is very pretty! I LOVE china. When I got married I was more excited about it than my dress LOL I have to admit, I'm glad I don't have any that's been handed down though. I would be afraid of breaking it for sure.

I think what I'll do is go to Salvation Army/Goodwill and get some cheap china to use for DS. My SD will actually be careful if I express to her how important it is to me. She is much more careful with my stuff than anyone else's. One of the few benefits of being the step-mom in my family for some reason. I think I will let her know that if something breaks because of her carelessness she'll pay for it. It's possible she'll still break something, but I doubt it will be out of carelessness after that =P

We currently use a mish-mosh of ceramic dishes. Some old high end brand from my parents casual china, some target, some misc, but all heavy. I'll have to look up if the china is dishwasher safe. That would be a deal breaker for sure.

I have a 12 piece setting of Kate Spade china that is discontinued now. We use it maybe 5-6 times per year. I hope to use it every Sunday when the kids are older. I would use it every meal, but it is not dishwasher safe.

Our everyday stuff is ceramic and I got it at a garage sale for .25 per plate

My husband and I use our Lenox "Simply Fine" china in the Chirp pattern as our everyday dishes. The kids get unbreakable stuff.

No and I never want to. I want my dad to pass on his special antique ones to my siblings as I have no interest in storing it. I'll never give up my corelle.

IME with china or corelle, 99% of the time dishes are broken during improper care while washing. It's not a bad idea for a 2yo to have dishes that don't matter if they get broken though. I did plastic while my kids were little, and I think it was harder for them to transition to real plates a year ago than if I had used corelle or china all along. I say use it and love it. There's no point to putting it away and not enjoying it.

We have Corelle in a basic pattern, it's used from babies to adults. I like how simple it is and that my kids have 'real' plates and bowls. I don't have room or interest in storing china. I'm not terribly sentimental though.
If you like it, then use it. I'd rather risk a plate getting broken then have the dishes collecting dust somewhere.
