Can brushing make a child sick?

I brushed my 5 yo for the first time this morning. About 10 or 15 minutes later, he threw up. I would just like to rule out the possiblity of a connection before I brush him again. From some reason I was thinking his OT might have said it was possible? Anyone know?

I don't think its likely, but I suppose possible. Really the only thing to do is try again. It might also be the time of day, like he doesn't tolerate it well first thing in the morning or after meals or something , but other times are fine maybe??? I'd call your OT to ask personally

My son used to puke if he put his hands in dry rice, so anything is possible. He eventually grew out of a lot of that, though. I would try again tomorrow and see what happens.

Make sure you don't brush his stomach area.

It is. Did you brush his head or stomach? Those a big no nos because they can cause vomiting.

Brushing causes a seratonin dump in the brain and too much can induce vomiting.

What is brushing? Is it for sensory input?

I would think yes. Our little guy is so very sensory sensitive that he can touch certain things with his hands like dry lentils, rice, dry pasta, certain toys and he gags to the point of vomiting. His OT's were amazed by it.
