gift for BM?

We have been waiting for an adoption placement since Sept, and this afternoon were called about a birth mother delivering TOMORROW! Of course we said yes, and are currently driving to KY.
My original plan was to knit the BM something, like a shawl, but of course I don't have the time to do that now!
So, should we get her something? What would be good? It seems like nothing would really be an adequate thank you for giving us a baby boy!

How exciting, congrats!
We got our daughters birth mom and big basket and filled it with things like a throw blanket, journal, lotion set, some goodies, and a nice digital camera.

I was thinking a birthstone pendant would be nice. The trouble I am having is that the place she lived is fairly rural, so I might have to rely on Wal-Mart. At least it is almost Easter so there are plenty of baskets!

A music CD, a card with a written note. Some things for her recovery after having the baby... Lotion, a comfy throw, some comfy socks... things like that. I know my son's adoptive parents gave me some stuff like that, and also a present for my daughter (a teddy bear).

oh wow, so overnight they put the baby up for adoption? Can't even imagine the one day just boom, baby! You must be excited!

The baby was delivered by emergency c-section due to BM's escalating heart rate and baby's erratic one. They were in the process of choosing a birth family, and were stuck making a decision on really short notice. Baby boy has been born and is just wonderful. BM was in a methadone treatment, so we are awaiting tests on her the baby is doing fine.
