Diaper Swappers

So I read these are good, free readers. I go online today and it says they can be downloaded free and you don't even have to register. So, I start downloading up a storm even though I only read the first story. I just stopped to read one and I'm appalled! Obviously, I'd read them before presenting them to my DD when the time comes, but I never expected any of the age 3-6 ones to include an evil rabbit that wants to cut one of the cats several legs off. Does anyone use these readers? Are there other weird ones? I'm probably overreacting, but I'm blaming it on the fact that a reader I was given at school when in kindergarten was about a cat and mouse that were friends and one of them died and I still think about how sad it made me.

I don't use those, but that does sound horrifying! Good grief, what a weird story for a young child. Hopefully the content of the others will be more appropriate.

We are a very conservative family and I don't think it was that bad?? Maybe a little scary but I don't think my kids would be bothered by it. DS1 age 5 would get it because we've explained that your leg falls asleep when you sit it on a a certain way for too long. DS2 is 3 and he wouldn't be scared by it. I'd probably present it in a silly way and laugh to keep it from sounding scary. We've said silly stuff like that to them before if they are fake crying over a minor injury we'll say, "oh no! do you think the doctor will have to cut it off?" I have 2 boys so maybe girls would react differently?

That story was creepy! I do not think I would give that to my kids to read!!

The story itself isn't the creepy part, in my opinion, it's the pictures they put with it. I would NOT give that to my young kids to read. Creepy! My older boys would think it was funny I'm sure but not the littles!
