Re: Stressing over NB stash
I'm so glad I posted my question because I really thought that my small FBs would work for the NB stage. Even though I'm bummed that they won't, at least I know and can prepare with other options!:-)

My 3 month old is 12 pounds and just barely fitting in the small fuzzibunz. I would definitely recommend some tiny ones. My faves were bumgenius. The fuzzibunz xs worked well after her cord fell off.

Re: Stressing over NB stash
After CDing 3 newborns, I'm going simple for our 4th.
18 GMD workhorse orange (I could make my own but I am too lazy!) 12 imagine bamboo prefolds Thirsties XS and duo size 1, weehuggers size 1 for covers I have 6 XS FB, some swaddlebees and blueberry NB AIO's (simplex and mini deluxe w/ velour inner) as well. My "small" stash includes 6 elbee fitteds 6 Small bumgenius AIO's 24 periwinkle edge prefolds Then we'll move into OS.

I was disappointed too when I realized I couldn't use mine either. But I bought a TON of other dipes and that's why I suggested the 2 I did although there are many other options too! The only one I didn't like was kisaluvs. Don't bother. |

Re: Stressing over NB stash
Loving this thread!
I'm due May 8 and have *nothing* for my NB stash yet. Eek! I was all set to get the BG elemental but it looks like the newest version of those has HORRIBLE reviews, so now I feel like I'm back at square one. Heading to check out the Swaddlebees Simplex now, so thanks for those recs! |

BEAUTIFUL baby girl!! Hmm, doesn't the diaper go on the inside of the clothes?? JK ;] I'm not even expecting my first, yet, but my cousin is due with a baby girl in May and we'll be TTC in July. Helping her shop for baby stuff has got me obsessed, too, but I figure it's not a bad idea to stock up on items we'll need while we can afford them. Granted, many of these will be 'tested' on my cousin's baby girl, but by the time she outgrows them, I'll be ready to pop out my own DS or DD! In the past two weeks, I've been checking the FSOT forums daily and building my own stash. There are still a few items I need, but I think we're pretty much set for NB CDing: 20 - Kissaluvs Fitted size 0 1 - Kissaluvs Fitted size 1 1 - Kissaluvs Fitted size 2 12 - Tinkle Trap pre-fitteds (with two NB Snappi's) 2 - Thirsties Cover size XS 1 - Thirsties Cover size S 3 - Thirsties Cover size 1 7 - Grovia AIO size NB (these are sooo petite and beautiful!) For bigger baby, I've also accumulated: 13 - Alva Pockets OS 15 - Bamboo Inserts 8 - Thirsties Cover size 2 (all snaps for curious toddler hands) Two packages just arrived today, and I still have more in the mail, a few wetbags, diaper pail liner (NIP!), a couple half-used rolls of flushable liners, etc. In conclusion, I would agree with the mamas above who recommend more dipes! I've also heard and read that those new to CDing should build a 'variety' stash to determine what fits in with their lifestyle... even though I've pretty much settled on fitteds/covers for NB and pockets later. I'm hoping to find some Thirsties Fitteds for my larger size 2 covers to use in rotation with the Alvas. The theory for the Alvas is to have a diaper that would be easy for others to use, such as DH, Grampa and Daycare. Happy hunting, mama! There are loads of swell deals on DS and you're bound to get yourself fully stashed whenever you need it. Re: Stressing over NB stash
You need more nb size diapers, the small FB won't work. The XS will, however. I'd also consider a couple more covers for the nb stage because the Flips won't fit for awhile. Maybe two more Thirsties, the Duos are great because they actually snap down smaller than the Thirsties XS and they fit for longer. If I were you, I'd also get 2 Duos. I know they say 3-4 covers are enough, but they've never been enough for me.
I apologize if I'm repeating others. I should probably read all the comments before I post. ;-)
