Re: Green smoothies

1 banana, 1 acai smoothie pack from sambazon, assorted frozen fruits (we keep a few bags of berries, etc) Then I always stick some kale and dandelion leaves in there. If I get a kiwi that will go in too.

Our green smoothies are usually pretty varied, I just sort of throw a bunch of stuff in the vitamix and call it good. Lately though, we've been loving a particular blend:

A bunch of kale trimmed off the stalks (maybe about 3 cups?). I prefer the taste of the darker flat kind over the curly leaved kind. I think it might be Italian kale.

A fresh or frozen banana

A few handfuls of frozen pineapple

About a tbsp. of chia seeds

A bit of ice and a bunch of water.

Not really a recipe, but it's more of an eyeballing sort of dealie. I always save a bit to freeze into Popsicles for the kids.

ETA: I'm way too lazy to freeze bananas on a sheet, I just chop them up and throw them in a ziplock. If I had a less powerful blender it might be a problem though.

Are you waiting for it to soak? I don't. I plot it in and drink right away. So it's not slimy at all!

Re: Green smoothies

I have been OBSESSED with smoothies since I got a Vitamix last weekend! I'm not a pro by any means, but what I do is put in a bunch of fresh/frozen fruit, a handful of baby carrots, and a handful or two of baby spinach. Add a little water or milk, sometimes yogurt, and sometimes honey. Also 6 or so ice cubes. Blend!
