All of this. This isn't a bad or unhealthy thing. My mom has stories if me coming home from kindergarden saying I was going to marry one boy, and I had "boyfriends" in first grade. And then the boys have cooties stage comes along around third and fourth grade

Perfectly normal. I had the same boyfriend from Kindergarten to 3rd grade, when he decided girls were icky.

We sat on the bus together, went to each other's house to play, etc.

Hmm that does remind me...us group of boys in kindergarten would be writing on dirt ground with sticks who we'd marry (80's singers back then ).

My mother was worried about me as well. According to her, my first obvious crush was at 18 months on the 12yo elevator boy in the Phillipines. I can tell you the names of my boyfriends from K on. I averaged one crush per school year. I kissed a LOT of boys. Only slept with my husband(s). My sister could care less about boys until college.

I guess some of us girls just really enjoy boys' attention more than others.

geeez torre, calm down! :P

in all seriousness, nate (6) already tells me he has a girlfriend. ;P i think it's just the age. they are learning what all of that means, exploring, and learning that the opposite sex is cute sometimes. :P i totally wouldn't worry about it.

Re: 5 year old seems interested in Boys?

I just wish every single day that my husband had been my first and only. I know life doesn't always work that way but I went through a lot of pain and harassment because of my choices and don't want that for my girls. Sighhhhh. You all rock!

ASHLEY! I LOOOOOOOOVE YOU! HHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHA

This little boy WAS incredibly adorable, he looked scared and happy and annoyed and flattered and oblivious all at once lolololol

Re: 5 year old seems interested in Boys?

I don't blame you for worrying. I probably would have done the same. I'm glad to have read this because it's reassuring to me in case we encounter this soon. But like the others have said - I remember as early as first grade having "boyfriends" and "crushes." I remember our "boyfriends" would give us back rubs during movie time at school. Now that I look back on it, I can't believe the teachers were ok with that?? LOL

Re: 5 year old seems interested in Boys?

I have a 6yr old girl, we homeschool so she's not around little boys all day (except the neighbor boy but he's mean) and she has older sisters who are not interested in boys yet. But this is who she is planning on marrying:

Yep, a Korean pop star. She is going to learn to speak Korean and move there and marry him when she is grown up.

It's definitely "the thing" at DS1's preschool right now. They're all picking out who they're going to marry. But the teachers discourage it when it becomes the sole topic of conversation and one little boy who actually kissed a girl had his mother called in for a talk. So they are keeping an eye on it.
