It is just so hard to wait. I'm starting to swell just in the last few days so maybe that's a good sign but it sure makes my feet hurt and makes getting things done like laundry and dishes and cooking hard to do.
i drank castor oil and had both kiddos at 41w1d (first one I had an OB who was threatening to induce, 2nd one was a homebirth but I was just personally done!). it isnt that bad and it worked like a charm! with DD #1 I went into labor that night, with DS #2 I had prodromal labor which kicked into active about 15 hrs after I drank it. I mixed it with OJ and could barely taste it...def going that route again if I end up approaching 42 weeks without a baby.

My MW will let me go to 41 weeks since my date was changed 2x. But late this week she wants to sweep membranes and next week she will be thinking about castor oil. I have heard mixed reviews on whether it is actually that bad. IMO I would rather take my chances with castor oil at home than pitocin at a hospital.

ddc, the one time i took castor oil, i literally thought i was dying. be prepared to set up shop in the bathroom for hours. the stomach cramps were so bad, i thought i was going to have to get IV fluids from dehydration. it was absolutely horrific, worse than any other stomach bug i've ever had. everyone can tolerate it differently, and it didn't do anything for me, as far as labor went.

I did castor oil mixed with root beer and chased with a peanut butter cup with DS. Worked nicely and he was born less than 12 hrs later (only 2.5 hr labor) at 38+4. It did nothing for my bowels at all.

This is what I am afraid of. I am so sensitive to EVERYTHING! I'm afraid this is what would happen to me. I have too much to do to be cooped up in the bathroom. And I sure don't want to be sick and then it all be for nothing. As ready as I am I think I will just wait it out.

My midwife suggests 2 tablespoons tilo start. If in two hours you still don't have anything going do two more. It wasn't that bad. It tastes horrible but doingnit that way I was not camped in the bathroom with explosive diarrhea.

I'm mobile.... sorry for the typos!
